Navigating a Deferred Medical Certificate

Navigating a Deferred Medical Certificate

Getting my medical Certificate has been a real journey, with some unexpected detours. It started with the the issue of finding out how to get my medicine for my migraines, this is putting a major hold on perusing my Private Pilot License.

Since February, I've been working with my doctor's office to get Aimovig and Nurtec covered by insurance. Without it, we're looking around $2,000 a month. But during this time time my Dr. left the practice which caused the process to slow down. I've finally got a specialist appointment for March, and if things go well, after six-months of being on my new meds I can try again for my medical!
I got the green light for Ajovy (a similar CGRP), unfortunately it's been about a month with no relief. I'm optimistic though, it may just take some time to work. On the bright side, AeroChic has been a great project to keep me motivated. Chats with other female pilots keep me going, even when things get tough.
I'm looking forward to joining a (WAI) Chapter soon, making new friends, and hopefully catching a break from these migraines. It's a bumpy ride, but at the end of the day, it's all part of chasing my dream to soar through the skies. Cheers to staying positive through it all! ✈️
